Summer Recreation Scholarship Program
Who can benefit?
Any Yankton youth 17 years of age or younger where a financial need exists. The scholarship allows for a child during the summer recreation season to be placed in one swimming lesson and one recreation program in each of the two summer sessions.
What is required?
Proof of City residency is required. Requests will be evaluated based on financial and/or personal hardship.
How to apply:
Applications are available at the Summit Activities Center, 1801 Summit, or may be accessed online.
All requests will be evaluated based on financial and/or personal hardship. Information provided will be kept in the strictest confidence and will not be a matter of public record. Submission of an application for scholarship is not confirmation assistance will be received. It is also not a registration form. You must submit a program registration form in addition to the scholarship application. Programs offered by outside agencies will not be given scholarships. Yankton Recreation Department swimming lessons and programs are available for scholarships. No more than 20 percent of the program spaces can be allocated to scholarship participants, and only if class openings are available.
Department policy allows for a child on scholarship during the summer recreation season to be placed in one swimming lesson and one recreation program in each of the two summer sessions. Each application will be reviewed and a decision made by the Recreation Manager.
