The first week of March is time for hats off to Dr. Seuss at the Yankton Community Library! If I Ran the Circus is sixty years old this year and is the theme for our week-long celebration.
The main event is on Wednesday, March 2, from 3:45-4:45 p.m. This is Read Across America Day in celebration of the birthday of Theodore Geisel, aka Dr. Seuss. In keeping with the circus theme, we are planning a Seuss-inspired carnival with games and activities, as well a reading of If I Ran the Circus. It is for elementary students, but younger Seuss fans are welcome to attend with an adult.
Dr. Seuss is the focus of our regularly scheduled library programs throughout the week too. Seuss books will be read and silly songs sung during preschool story times on Monday, February 29, 6:30 p.m.; and Wednesday and Thursday, March 2 and 3, at 10:15 a.m. Toddler time on Tuesday, March 1, 10:15 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., also features Seuss. The craft for elementary students on Thursday, March 3, from 3:45-4:45 p.m., is creating Seuss-inspired hats.
Join the fun! Check out our special decorations and activities throughout the week. Come in for stories, songs, and crafts. Celebrate Seuss at the Yankton Community Library, 515 Walnut Street! For further information, contact the library at 668-5275.
