Each year, the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country celebrate our freedom and right to read. Each year in the United States, hundreds of books are reported to the ALA as challenged for removal. Banned Books Week is September 24-30, 2017 and the library will feature special displays during that time. Frequently banned books often include classics, young adult books, the Bible, and everything in between. We invite and encourage you to pick up a Banned Book this week in celebration of our right to read and remember, as our slogan this year states, that Words Have Power. You can find lists of frequently banned books here: http://www.ala.org/advocacy/bbooks/about.
