Smithsonian Artists to Perform

Smithsonian Institution Recording Artists Bob and Sheila Everhart will present “A Traveling Museum of Music” on Saturday, July 9, at 7 p.m., in the Riverside Park Amphitheatre.  Join us for an evening of songs that were popular in rural America during all the wars in which America took part.

Bob and Sheila have been performing old-time and traditional acoustic music in the “Oh Brother Where Art Thou” style for over twenty years.  They have devoted their lives to the preservation and performance of America’s rural music.  During this concert, Bob will play his 12-string Martin guitar and French harp, and Sheila will play an acoustic bass and perform her mountain dance.

This program, sponsored through a partnership of the Yankton Community Library and Yankton Area Arts, is free of charge.  A free-will offering will be taken to defray travel costs.

In case of inclement weather, the concert location is the Yankton College Theatre, 1801 Summit Street.

For further information, contact the library at 668-5275 or Yankton Area Arts at 665-9754.
